Q:

I went off the birth control pill after being on it for about 15 years. Since I went off the pill, my cycles have been 38, 36, 31 and 37 days. When I saw my doctor she said I am probably not ovulating due to my cycles being long and irregular. We have

been trying to get pregnant for 4 months and nothing yet. I did an OPK one month and got all negatives...but my cycles are not regular so it is hard to know when to test. I don't remember what my cycles were like before the pill I only know that I did get a period every month. I am afraid I am not ovulating ....do I just wait it out or when should I seek my gyno's advice or tests? I don't really want to get too technical yet because that is stressful in itself, but at the same time I am afraid to wait in case there is something wrong that could be fixed. I will be turning 32 this year. Any advice?

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. You can always talk to your physician again but most people trying to get pregnant, try for at least a year...this is common so since you are at four months so far....be patient.

It will take some time for your body to get used to being off birth control and I know you are getting frustrated but keep trying...that's the best part of it.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Missie
