Q:

I'm 99.9% sure that I'm not pregnant, but...?

Okay, so I'm about 10 days late for my period. My last period started around May 29 and it should have started again around June 30 (at the latest). But it's already July 8 and no period yet...

My boyfriend and I have been intimate during June, but we never had intercourse. We would even take precautions in which if one person wasn't wearing pants, the other person had to. I'm just afraid because ppl always say you can never be too careful... I accidentally touched his pre-cum one time but it was a really small amount on my finger and I never touched myself afterwards.

I guess the other thing is that I've been kinda stressed out lately with my new job that started on June 15. My guess is that my late period has more to do with that than anything. It had also changed my sleeping schedule a lot, and I'm often more tired. I guess I'm worrying over nothing, but I guess I just need some reassurance. I did take a HPT on July 5 and it came out negative.

Great News! You can take something like Midol or Pamprin for the bloating and cramps. It may also help to apply a heat patch under the front part of your underwear to relieve some of the pain/discomfort.

Best Wishes,

Hi Anon,

It seems as though you accidentally answered your own question :)
Stress plays a major role in our menstrual cycle. If you have been stressed out because of your new job and are having disturbed sleep cycles, then this is likely why you are having a delay in your cycle. There is no possibility of pregnancy if you and your boyfriend did not have sex and your HPT came up negative. Try to relax, once you get the hang of this new job and your sleeping patterns become regular again, your body will adapt and your cycles will start to regulate once more.

Best Wishes,

Rosa

Thank you for your response, Rosa. I was wondering, then, is it possible to skip your period entirely due to stress? A couple of days have passed and still no sign of my period yet... Do you happen to know anything that might be able to help induce the starting of it?

Absolutely-- there's a big possibility that you would miss your period due to stress. I don't know anything that will induce it but try to relax and not stress out about it. The more you think about it, the more your body recognizes that there's still stress. Let us know when it arrives!
