Guide

Yes, hypothyroidism or an under active thyroid gland can cause you to gain weight and make losing weight difficult.

The thyroid gland is a part of the endocrine system and  plays a major role in regulating the body's metabolism. With hypothyroidism, metabolism is slowed and you will not burn calories as well as someone with a normally functioning thyroid gland.

Are you currently being treated for hypothyroidism?
