i'm only 14 years old and since i was 12 i've been almost crazy with sexual tension. i constantly think about sex, i've tried masturbation to relieve the frustration, but it doesn't relieve me, so i broke down and (unfortunately) gave up my virginity to try and cool myself down but after 4 attempts at sexual relief, im still insane with the need to orgasm, and i feel embarrassed, because of what ive become from it. My friend thinks its because i got my period young (8), but im not sure. Is this normal? Is there something wrong with me?

Yes, it's normal. You said you tried masturbating but did not orgasm. I have to ask, did you use a vibrator or anything of the sort? If not, you may want to check it out. I noticed recently that Walgreen's sells small inexpensive ones in the birth control aisle. I suggest looking into your local library or online for information on female anatomy. Do not think you have to risk pregnancy or std's because of this urge. THERE ARE WAYS to satisfy it. Do not give up on abstinence. It's one of the best things you could do for yourself. And when you finally do meet someone worth giving it to, THAT will be all the satisfaction you will need.

PS I speak from personal experience. I lost my virginity at the age of 14. I became a pregnant teen with an STD given to me by my now 5 year old's father. It's not a good experience.

Hi Anon,

Thank you for your question. Please don't feel ashamed or as if there is something wrong with you-- your friends are right. Since you experienced an early period at the age of 8, a combination of factors have caused your high libido: hormones, increased sex drive before ovulation, psychological factors, etc. This is all normal at your age..not to mention the urge to fulfill this desire. However, with you being 14 you also need to realize that with this desire come its consequences: Pregnancy, STD's/HIV, and labels at school. If you feel like this need for sex is taking over your life and you are finding that daily activities are hard to do without thinking about sex, then you may want to consider seeing your school psychologist and/or nurse.

Best Wishes,

Rosa
