Essure is made of nickel. Your doctor should have had requested an allergy test to see if you had a nickel allergy. I had Essure for 3yrs and it caused a lot of issues for me. Once it was removed, via hysterectomy, all issues resolved immediately.

Hi there...

This is is in response to the question regarding #Essure birth control. First off let me say that not everyone's story with any product is the same.... Some people may do well with it for others it may go horribly wrong. I understand that... and with that said, I will say that I have made it my mission to tell every woman I can the things that the doctors, the company, and the FDA wont tell them. Point blank... there are some women who should never have Essure... Its actually in the doctors insert not to implant women under certain circumstances. But... many, either for the sake of making a dollar or a lack of having read the insert... do not tell their patients this. You cannot just implant metal devices in a patient and HOPE that everything goes well. And you certainly cannot tell your patients that they are crazy when they tell you what is happening to their bodies.... Believe it or not, I have seen this happen time and time again. That in itself is a problem because these women have nowhere to turn when things go south healthwise. I am here to educate you... to enable you all to make an EDUCATED decision about Essure... that is the fair and right thing to do. So I am going to say this... go to Essure Problems facebook page... meet some of these women... ask questions about what theyve seen and gone through. Go to essureprocedure.net and read what Erin Brockvich and a couple hundred women have to say. Google vaginal mesh problems and implant syndrome... Google nickel allergies and read some of the 133,000 articles on the harmful effects of nickel in the human body. And lastly, go to momsorganicmarket.org and read the articles there about nickel in the body, who is more susceptable to its effects, what those effects are, AND what happens to a baby in utero that is exposed to nickel. I say this last one simply because despite the reports the company is puting out there about a zero percent pregnancy rate... if you actually read the insert you will find out that there are over 748 pregancies... and they blamed each and every one of them on someone/something other than #essure... giving specific numbers for each but ending with over 200 "for unknown reasons". ALSO.. you should know that i personally know of 40 women who have gotten pregnant... a week ago one of those ladies babies died right after birth at 26 weeks. So with everything Ive put out here, I sincerely hope that you will each take the opportunity to research Essure and make an informed decision before you put it in your body. thanks for your time...

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Everyones body is different, it's important to discuss this with your doctor and in determining which birth control is right for you.
