Late period. Can stress get the absolute best of you in a situation like this?

So my last period started on the 24th of January and it lasted about a week. On February 5th I had unprotected sex and the next day I took Plan B. My periods are pretty regular for the most part and I've taken Plan B before and my period came within the general time frame that it usually does. I was supposed to start around February 24th but never did. So I waited a week then took a HPT on March 3rd, it came back negative.

It is now March 9th and still no period. I'm a worry wart too which makes this situation tougher. Relaxing for me is practically impossible. I've been stressed to the max with this going on, a death, one of my good friends is currently deployed and he's been sick in and out of the hospital and then also me having a bad cold. I don't know if it just got thrown off or what? I've read a bunch of other forums and things, some helped and some just scared me more. It's all just so overwhelming. I've been having mild cramps and things as if my period is on it's way but it still hasn't come. I'm planning on taking another HPT tomorrow. I'm only 19 and the thought of pregnancy just scares me to death. I don't know what I'd do. I'll most definitely not being having sex for awhile after this. I was just curious as to if something like this has ever happened to anyone before? And maybe advice on what's wrong or what to do? Thanks in advance!

Danielle,

One of the side effects of Plan B is a change in period. Stress is a MAJ1OR factor in women skipping or having late periods. Try to relax and it will come eventually. Don't fret if it doesn't come at all this month or if it's just really late. The amount of stress along with the pill are most likely the culprits of your missed/late period. Since you tested on March 3th and got a NEGATIVE, I'd venture to say you're not pregnant. By March 3th, if you took a urine test it would already pick up the HCG hormone and give a positive if you were pregnant. Try to relax, think of anything BUT your period and keep us posted!
