My bum is darker then the rest of my body

Im hispanic with brown skin. the area of my whole waist line is dark and so is the bottom of my bum. Overall my bum is darker then the rest of my body. I also have lots of small white spots covering my whole bum cheeks. They're not bumpy or anything, it's just how the skin is. It really bothers me because it makes my stretch marks stand out. What can i do to even it out?

Hi Lydia,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. My first suggestion to you would be to go and see a Dermatologist to get a professional opinion - and make sure you do not have any skin issues going on. The doctor will usually take a shave sample and test it to ensure you don't have any issues.

There are also many skin lotions that are on the market that suggest that they will lighten your skin but in reality, I have not heard of any that are very effective. Doctors however, do offer prescription strength medications that are often helpful for pigment issues.

I hope this helps and keep us posted on what the doctor tells you since there are many women who have pigment issues.
