My last period started May 10th and lasted 5 day. On May16th I had unprotected sex and took the morning after pill on May 17th. one week later May 27th i had another period and it lasted 4 days. it is now June 23 and my period has not started. my body does not feel any different from normal Im not tired or having any symptoms of being pregnant to confirm i took 3 pregnancy test all weeks apart and all 3 are negative! Does Next choice or Plan B cause a significant delay for a menstrual cycle?

Hi,
June 24, 2011 - 5:01pmGlad to hear that. To avoid a similar situation, maybe, you should consider oral contraceptives or some form of birth control such as an IUD. The morning after pill is intended for emergency situations and has a strong impact on your body.

Hi,
June 23, 2011 - 5:15pmI don't know which emergency contraceptive you took, but here is information about Plan B: Changes in the menstrual cycle can be expected. Some women will experience spotting a few days after taking Plan B One-Step. Because Plan B One-Step may delay ovulation, you may be at risk of pregnancy in the first few days after treatment.
Women report that the menses may start a few days early or may be delayed a few days. The amount of menstrual flow may be either lighter or heavier than usual. A pregnancy test should be done if no period occurs within three weeks of using Plan B One-Step or if the menses is very light.
Since you have already noticed changes in your menstrual cycle and have tested negative 3 times, you can either wait to see if you get your period or make an appointment now with your doctor. Your doctor can do a blood pregnancy test and counsel you if these changes are related to the emergency contraceptive
