Hi. My period ended on dec 31. I had unprotected sex that night (happy new year lol). I took next choice about 50 hours after and in between pills (you're suppose to take two) he ejaculated inside me again. I then took the second pill 6 hours after intercourse. A week later I experienced brown spotting mixed with discharge. It was not heavy and It lasted for about two days on and off. last time I took this pill my period stated a week early but it hasnt. I am supposed to start 1/24. For the past week in a half I have been moody, emotional, nauseous from sunrise to sunset without actual vomiting, mild cramping (nothing like period cramping. That's way worse!), really bad headaches, fatigue, increase in appetite and sore nipples. I took a pregnancy test today it was negative but could I still be pregnant?

thanks for responding! i am mostly concerned because i took Next Choice 64 hours after intercourse. And in between the two pills my boyfriend and i had sex again. I was under the impression that since my period just ended that i could not really get pregnant. that is the reason i waited so late to take the morning after pill but it was still within the recommended 72 hours. the last two times i took the morning after pill my period started the next week but in this case it was different. Also, you mentioned that these could be symptoms brought on by PMS but i never have any of those symptoms when it is time for my period. i only get really bad cramps. and the i have not have these symptoms when i previously took Next Choice. If i am pregnant it would be at inopportune time but it would not be the end of the world. Im 23, college grad and have been with my bf almost 4 years. I just would like to know what was going on with my body.

Hi NinaT,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  All your symptoms can be due to PMS.  If your period is due on the 24th you should wait until you have a missed period to take a home pregnancy test.  If you had intercourse a day or two after your period, it's unlikely you will be pregnant.  A woman usually ovulates between day 11-21 from the first day of her period.

Best,

Daisy
