Pain in arm after flu shot

I had a flu shot Sept. 2008 and remember it hurt when given. Since then I have pain in my upper arm and shoulder (it's now been a year). I believe it is nerve damage from the needle going to deep. I have had an MRI. meds and now going to Chiro with no relief. I cant't put my arm behind my back or lift it over my head and forget about putting weight on it. Does anyone know of relief for this condition?

Thanks

Hi Jade, Thanks for letting me know that you are also experiencing pain from your flu jab. I went back to My Doctor on Tuesday. The ultra sound and blood tests showed nothing. My Doctor had contacted VicSafe (old Health Department) to enquire if they had received any similiar complaints but they would not comment until we completed paperwork about my problem (which we have now done). My Doctor has prescribed pain killers and referred me to a Physio as his concern now is that I may get "frozen shoulder". I have to go back to him in a month and hopefully we will have had some sort of response from VicSafe. I guess in the last 5 days I can say the pain has not got any worse, jury is out on whether it is getting any better. Has your Doctor talked about reporting your symptoms/reactions to your relative State Health Department as we have done?
Chin up and hopefully we will be feeling better soon.

Hi "molljames90", who is your comment directed to? If you can provide some help, I would love to hear about it. But before I respond directly (and I don't think anyone else should either) to what looks like it could just be spam or some kind of phishing scheme, I'd like to see some details posted here. Thanks!

Hi All, I'm am located in Australia and unfortunately cannot seem to find a site here that is discussing the same problem. I had my flu injection four weeks ago and am experiencing that same arm pain that most of you are describing. The pain appears to be in the muscle running between the shoulder and the elbow. The pain gets worse when slightly rotating my arm left or right., lifting my arm up and reaching behind. By the end of most days my lymph glands in my arm pits ache as well. Every day tasks are becoming unbearable and I am feeling very frustrated. I have visited my GP who took a blood test and sent me for an ultra sound on my arm. I had that today but nothing showed up. I have an appointment with my GP next Tuesday to find out the results of the blood tests. Also I would add my comment after having the shot was that it seemed high up on my arm than I have ever had before. Thanks for listening and if there is others from Australia reading this and know if there is a site here please let me know or maybe it is a bit soon as we have only been in the flu injection season for a short time.

Hi Anon - While most of our members are from the US and Canada, we have had posts on this topic from other countries as well. And while most people have had pain following a flu vaccination in the arm we've also heard from people who've had problems after shots in other areas of the body. I hope you will stay in touch and keep us posted on your progress toward recovering from what I'm sure must be very, very frustrating for you. Take care, Pat

I'm just going to start trying to add the Anti-Inflammatory foods to my diet and see how that goes. I can't see how you can totally eliminate sugars since many good foods break down into sugars anyways.I'm not sure i can completely eliminate processed foods but i can sure limit the intake.Thank you for your response and ideas.Peace and God's love to you.

Have you tried totally eliminating processed food and sugars from your diet. I tried it and within two weeks all the pain, inflammation is GONE! I had suffered for just over 5 months! I can dress without pain, lay on my left arm and use it to lift things now.

I wrote a few months ago telling you i got a Flu shot in October 2009 in my left arm. I get numbness in the left arm when i sleep at night.I toss and turn so much cause the pain is so annoying, especially more at night. I've tried everything like Motrin,Deep tissue massage, jacuzzi jets,Ben-Gay rub, heating and ice pads,a massager arm wrap,Glucosamine vitamins and creams.Sometimes these things help temporaily but the annoying pain is still there.I also sometimes get numbness and tingling down my left leg as well.I'm thinking sometimes the nerve might pinch or whatever in my arm and then causes a little siatica.I'm scared of having this the rest of my life as well.Sometimes it feels like it locks or gets so numb it feels like my arm gets so heavy it will fall off.I've been continueing to do excersises with it cause i don't want to get that Frozen Shoulder problem. At least it was in my left arm and i'm a righty.I go to church and pray about it and ask God to at least limit the pain if not take it away completely.I know it could be something worse so i'm trying to be thankful it's just kinda mild compared to what it could really be.I just can't imagine growing old with this pain.I'm 38 and feel like i'm 45 sometimes with this arm pain. Thanks for reading all this and may God Bless Us All.

One of the reasons inflammation occurs is from a rapid rise in blood sugar, which causes biochemical changes in the cell. Staying away from sugar and high-glycemic carbohydrates, which the body rapidly converts to sugar, is one of the best ways to decrease inflammation.

I am adding to my previous posts. I will repeat that I received my H!N1 shot on Oct. 26 and my pain and conditions continue. From a Canadian forum this new posting was very interesting - did you know that H1N1 clinical tests have not yet been concluded. Is that not totally astonishing! Here is where you go to verify it - CLINICALTRIALS.GOV, LOOK UP (type in) H1N1 VACCINE SAFETY.

Is it any wonder our doctors our dumbfounded on what is going on - the government used the general population as guinea pigs.

'Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me'.
