painfull lump in armpit

I have a very painfull lump under my right arm pit in the center. I noticed it on Monday and it was the size of a pea now its friday and its the size of a Grape and hurt very bad. What could this be? And what can I do to help the pain prior to going to the Doctor on Tuesday

Dear Anonymous,

Sometimes you can have an ingrown hair in the armpit area. However, because it is growing, please see a doctor as soon as possible. It is possible that you have a growing enlarged lymph node which definitely requires medical attention.
