Hi, I have a question to ask which is a friend of mine has been doing research on some kinds of medical information and she's not a high school graduate. I'm not so sure what kinds of medical information she is doing research on but what I do know is she came up with some kinds of conclusion to some things and wants to send to a organization the information she has been working on and I want to get your opinion on this matter that such person doing such thing is it good enough to call the person being a researcher or medical researcher? What kind of proof or information would you think are useful to have as a tool to have as backup if the person didn't study researching but has just being doing work of researching? I want to be able to give her good advice if you can please let me know about this soon. She has done such hard work to her work which I'm really proud of and she is my close best friend. I thought if I can ask you such thing here because I know it's all about health and medical matters and since I always get useful and helpful answers from everyone here I thought such thing I'm explaining here would be a good idea to get your suggestion about this. Please let me know about this soon. I really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I think I meant to say Advocate- The dictionary definition is "a person who speaks or writes in support of a cause."

Hope this helps!

Hi Kristin, I'm just wondering about something. Since your saying it's medical adversary I never actually heard of it this way and I even tried to loo at the dictionary I didn't see the definition either. I want to know what's the exact meaning to this? Is adversary an actual word? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa6666!

Thank you for seeking opinions from the EmpowHER community! I am also very happy that you stated that you always get useful and helpful answers from the members of the EmpowHER community! I agree, it's an awesome site to get answers to your questions and easily find the answers to questions that interest you.

I think it's great that your friend is doing research on medical and health topics. It shows that she is really passionate about health and sharing information with others.

Typically, a medical researcher or scientist has gone to college to get a degree such as a Bachelor of Science. It is only my opinion that in order to publish conclusions on a study, a person would have to follow a very specific protocol and scientific method.

Just because someone doesn't have a degree or maybe didn't follow a specific experiment, doesn't mean that the results they have discovered are not important.

I would have her send her findings to various organizations for their review. There's no harm or risk in sharing information with a professional organization. It would be my hope for her that they would review her hard work and contact her to discuss further. If her work is truly profound, she might have the opportunity to get involved in something greater than just what she has been able to do on her own.

Something like this takes persistence and perseverance. With thick skin and a whole lot of ambition, her work could easily become her dream! I certainly wish her the best of luck in her endeavor!

Let me know how it goes!

Best of luck!

Kristin

Thank you for your reply. If for example my friend enclose a letter explaining her situation and after her signature what do you think is good to write in her position in what she is and what she has done such as researcher, advisor, etc.? By getting your suggestion what is best to describe her situation because what she has come up with is related to a medical matter, I want to get the best advice to tell my friend in what is best in the best words to describe her situation, can you tell me some in what words are good to describe her situation? Please let me know soon.
Thanks,
Melissa
