Quick sharp pain right leg gives

My upper thigh started to give a quick sharp pain best way to describe is like a electric shock it goes as fast as it comes just 2 /3 seconds this was about 12 months ago. I only had it on and off maybe once or twice in a week.
Doctor didn't examine my leg, just said is it your hip or your knee??? Didn't seem that interested, so I asked for a X-ray, which shown that I have osteoarthritis in both hips and right knee, I was offered no help.
I've managed ok when my leg gives it's been few and far between.

However these past few days the quick sharp pain is happening all day long maybe 20/30 times a day, but the pain is in my upper front thigh as before, but also down the front and side of my leg below my knee, I'm worried sick now, I'm frightened of walking any distance, as I'm going to fall, what's going on with my right leg? ? I'm trying to see a doctor but there's nothing a aialable for 2 weeks , any advice more than welcome x
