For the past 3 months my periods have been very short, lasting 3 days. Normal days 5-7. The first day it is very heavy, but by the second day i can wear a pantyliner, it is so ligtht. Within the 3 months i have had, (on and off), terrible nausea, headaches, backache, dizzy spells, and a few weeks ago had sore breats (which lasted for a while). I have taken 3 pregnancy tests over this time and they have all been negative. I lost some weight at some point and have picked up again. At some point I even thought i felt some movement. I have 3 kids already, a 6yr old and 21 month old twins, and with both pregnancies i knew i was pregnant, before taking the test. Now i just feel 'odd'.

Dear Anon,

Are you on any form of birth control? Some pills, for example, cause your periods to be shorter and lighter and this is normal. If you are not, a three day period is still a normal period even if it is shorter than what you are used to. Dysmenorrhea during periods can cause headache, nausea, vomiting, and excessive cramping due to the excessive production of prostaglandins. If you are concerned about your symptoms, please schedule an appointment with your doctor to determine whether or not Dysmenorrhea is the cause of your symptoms.

Good Luck,

Rosa
