Q:

Stopped the pill after 3 days, is this breakthrough or implantation bleeding?

This will sound crazy, but I was starting LoEstrin 24 and stopped after 3 days (Nov 1st, 2nd, and 3rd). I was really forgetful will the pills and didn't think it would be safe to stop, start, and stop, etc. I had unprotected sex two days after stopping (Nov 5th) then again on Nov 7. Later that day, Nov 7th, I noticed very light bleeding. The bleeding stopped on the 9th of Nov. Prior to the pill, my last period was Oct 25 thru the 29 and would have come again on Nov 21, according to period tracking app on my phone. At this time, I don't know if that was breakthrough bleeding (November 7th would have been my day of ovulation under normal circumstances) or possible implantation bleeding. I haven't felt any "typical" pregnancy symptoms. I notice slight tenderness of the breast plus an increase in size, but I figured those were side effects from the pill. I haven't bought a pregnancy test because I feel like I may be overthinking things. I'd hate to spend money on a test if it's just a false alarm and was having doubts all along. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, what was the end result, so to speak?

Hi Anonymous,

Birth control pills have hormone in them and when you add hormone in your body then remove it, this will definitely cause some delayed issues. What you are experiencing seems completely plausible since you started then stopped using the pill. Your body should continue to normal in another month or so but in the meantime, you are susceptible for pregnany so be certain to use some other sort of birth control method.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for responding. I was just confused as to how the rest of this month was going to play out. I do plan to be careful in the future so as not to be in this situation again. Once again, thanks for the fast response. I truly appreciate the help. =)
