A string of flesh attached to the sides of my vagina, separate from my hymen, what is it?

I have a string of flesh, very thin, attached to both walls of my vagina, nearly over my urethra, separate from my hymen. I have had it for years and the last time I was examined, it was not mentioned. It's sensitive and usually slightly painful. I did see if it was a septate hymen, it is not. It's not even close to my hymen and is entirely separate altogether, crossing over my urethra from side to side. It does not block the urethra hole, it hovers over it. Does anyone else have this?

Hello ForeverVegro2012

Thank you for writing!

This may be extra skin that has grown in your genital area. We can't say exactly what it is.

You need to have this addressed with your gynecologist, it may be fairly simple to remove. Nothing can be diagnosed over the internet.
Best,
Susan
