switching pills

okay so this is kind of a confusing story. so iv'e been taking tricyclen lo for the past 3 months, anyways when i got to the end of the third week on the pill i decided i would just continue onto the next pack until i got my period instead of taking the sugar pills. when i did get my period i started the sugar pills, so now my pill cycle is all messed up. on top of that, im starting a new pill called Demulen 30. It says to start the pill on the first day of my period, but since the last pack of pills i was on is messed up, i should really be on my second week of pills and not my third which my last pill of that pack is tonight... just wondering when i should be starting this new pack of different pills? should i just stop the pill and wait for my period? (im not using it for birth control) or do i start it now?
