Swollen and puffy eyelids in the morning and then get flaky, red and sore during the day...

Hi there...

Was just wondering... the last 6-8 weeks, i've been waking up with swollen puffy eyelids - which i first thought was seasonal allergies, but it hasn't stopped. As the day goes on, my eyelids skin will get flaky like exzema, flakes off or just looks horrible... sometimes they're sore, red in areas, very dry and sometimes itchy...

Has anyone experienced this? I've never had any problems with skin problems ever nor many allergies ever either... once in a while in the spring...

I've tried many different kinds of natural creams with no relief! What could be causing this? I'm stumped... when i first went to my doctor, she just sent me home with allergy pills and drops that have done nothing but cost me lots of money....

I'd appreciate any help... with much appreciation...
sincerely, carol :o)

those doctors only prescribe just so many salves and balms and none of them work I been down that road. I say stay away from antibiotics and doctors they just wnat to get you started on that merry go round that is not good for anyone. sorry to say bleparitis is not anything that can be gotten rid of premanently but like the other woman said it could be an allergy to nail polish. so I am going to go with that one and take all the polish off my nails and see how that works, thanks

Wow, I'm surprised there are so many people with this same annoying problem! I had a flare up last year of dry, scaly, red, and swollen eyes, and it's come back in the last couple of weeks. The inside area of my eyes next to my nose also gets swollen sometimes so I don't even look like myself. At first I thought it was because I was wearing my disposable contacts too long and they were likely filled with bacteria...I started wearing my glasses more often but that didn't seem to make a difference. Last year when this happened I started mixing Kuki Nut/Coconut oil with my moisturizer and it seemed to help and didn't come back for a year. This time around I'm using the warm wash cloth with scent free cleanser to soften the skin, and then follow it immediately with Jamieson 100% pure vitamin E oil over the lids and undereyes....put on before bed and it does seem to help. I wear it all the time around the house as well (it's fairly thick so don't want to wear it out of the house), but when I do go out or to work, I mix Jamieson Vitamin E cream with a little Bio-Oil and smooth all over (including eyelids), and it gets me through the day. I wish I could figure out what the cause is though.

I have had the same thing for the past 3 years and now realize it coincides with getting a Christmas tree in the house. I have no other allergies, which is why I didn't tie this with it before...

Hi, just wanted to FYI u guys! I'd suggest an acupuncturist/Chinese medicine dr too! I went thru a damp heat rash earlier this yr and went to an acupuncturist. Took herbs - was a liver deal too. My rash is completely gone! The other day I got the same symptoms everyone is talking about with the puffy eyes. Finally called the acupuncturist, and he said its the first sign of my damp heat rash having a flair up. Back on the herbs for 2 days and it should put me back in balance! Good luck to all! :)

Hey there! How did you make out with the herbs for the eye issue. I've been dealing with dry, itchy, swollen eye lids for over a month. Have been doing acupuncture and taking herbs (not exactly sure what the herbs were for). Wonder how you made out?

The problem:
Swollen eyes every morning when I wake up…..I don’t mean puffy I mean SWOLLEN. Some days they can be slightly better some days they can be AWFUL. Swelling goes down as the day goes on sometimes the skin would be red, and begin to flak off, tiny lines started to form under my eyes from the repeated cycle of swelling. I was aging over night!!
I tried everything- ice, cucumbers, tea bags, coconut oil, putting honey IN my eyes, cutting salt out of my diet, cut sugar out of my diet, coconut oil, I went without makeup, tried steroid creams, oil pulling etc etc… nothing worked. I have suffered with this for almost a year……

The treatment:
Mario Badescu control cream. No joke, I’m not even into cosmetics but this stuff was a miracle for me. It was exactly what I had been praying for and it REALLY REALLY worked. For the first time in almost a year my eyes look normal!!! I look like myself again! I am so happy with the results that I just had to share with anyone and everyone who is suffering with this problem! Try it and pass on the good news, this stuff is phenomenal. It worked wonders for me! After using it for one day my eyes began to look better and now ( a few short days later) they are 100% back to normal, NO swelling!!

Some interesting info I thought I'd share. Found MB "Control Cream" on Amazon after having a tough time finding it even on their websit. A review warns that the formula has been changed:

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning: The formula was changed..., April 7, 2013
By Rusti R. "Xolo Lover" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mario Badescu Control Cream (0.50 oz) (Health and Beauty)
UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POST (See original post below): Control Cream has been pulled from the market because it is believed that it contained undisclosed corticosteroids. And if you can find someone selling the 'old' formula (pre-March 2013), DO NOT purchase it!!! Or if you are still using the old formula, STOP!! For all of you who are new here and suffering from what you think is a 'reaction' to the 'new formula' (Mario Badescu 'reformulated' Control Cream--i.e., likely removed the working ingredients, the corticosteroids--in Feb/Mar 2013), be aware that you are likely suffering from topical corticosteroid withdrawal (TCW) as it is firmly believed that this very deceitful, unethical company had been adding undisclosed corticosteroids to both its Control Cream and Healing Cream, both of which the company is no longer selling. In short, you have been applying harmful, addictive corticosteroids to your face!!! THIS is why these products worked so very well for your ailments!! BUT corticosteroids are intended to be used for only 14 days maximum! (And some corticosteroids, the ones suspected to have been added to Control Cream and Healing Cream, should NEVER BE APPLIED TO THE FACE!) When used for long periods of time, corticosteroids can cause irreparable damage to the skin. And when corticosteroids are abruptly stopped, the skin will respond most negatively (redness, blistering, burning, stinging, itching, pustules, papules, dryness, etc.), sound familiar? Contact me: RustiRestaino at gmail dot com if you have questions. We got F'd people!! Be sure to report your experience to the FDA through Medwatch. Google FDA Medwatch and report!!

***ORIGINAL COMMENT ***. This used to be a great product, and it was my 'holy grail', but very recently (early 2013) the company changed the formula WITHOUT informing it's loyal customers. The new product BADLY damaged my skin. Find me @RustiResta on Twitter where I posted photos of my face after using the new Control Cream. I'm going on week 4 now..been seen by 3 different docs and spent $$$ on them and meds. Do Not Buy this! I will NEVER purchase anything from this irresponsible company again.

Hey there!

Did the cream continue to be a "cure" for you? Are you still using it? And which exact MB product? I'm having trouble finding "control cream". I have tried all of the things you did as well, and in addition going to acupuncture and taking chinese herbs for the last two months and still suffering...would love any feedback. Thanks, Kellie
