I have a history of very irregular periods, so I understand that this may just be another instance of that, but given that I am feeling quite anxious, and that for the past few months, my periods have been fairly regular, I thought I would just reach out and ask. It has been about 47 days since my last period began. Approximately 1 month ago, I was with my boyfriend and he fingered me after touching his genitals. I'm unsure whether any pre-ejaculate or ejaculate was present. Two weeks after this occurred, I took a pregnancy test which was negative. I had another negative test 2.5 weeks after the incident happened. Finally, I took a third pregnancy test about 3.5 weeks after he fingered me. It was also negative. My breasts have been feeling pretty sore for around a week, and I also am noticing that I have some gas. Is it reasonable to say with certainty now that I am not pregnant? Should I take another test? In general, is this safe activity to engage in? I have been feeling anxious about this, and also have moved from college back home for the summer, which could have something to do with the late period?

Hello again, VYbgpv36!
Thank you for writing.
Your tests are proof you are not pregnant. Fingering is an unlikely scenario for becoming pregnant. Ejaculate would have to be deliberately inserted into your vaginal canal for there to be any risk. For future, be more aware of what is going on in the moment, like whether he ejaculated, and what is on his hands before he touches you.
Pre-ejaculate itself does not contain any sperm. Sperm may be inside the urethra if a man ejaculated recently and did not urinate since. If he urinated since he last ejaculated, there is no sperm at all. Pregnancy is very uncommon from pre-ejaculate and the urethra would have to contain sperm at the same time. A woman would also have to be ovulating and engage in unprotected intercourse with ejaculation. Your period should be along soon. If you are concerned about your irregular cycle, see your GYN.
