Venous lake on my lip

I have this dark blue/purple lesion on my lip that keeps getting bigger. I went to see the dermatologist and she said that it's a venous lake. She said it was nothing I had to worry about. Does anyone else have one or know of someone who does? If so, what was your/their treatment?

Hi Gabi

Well it's starting to work. has taken 2 weeks before I noticed any difference but can see a definite change now. I think it may take another month or so as they were quite large and had been there for several years but at least I feel positive now so for anyone who's trying the castor oil, don't give up, it can take time but does work

Indeed, if the VL is old for years, it may take a while to notice improvements with castor oil massage, but like you say, there is a hope even for these cases, and clearly you would obtain improvements. Don't give up and have patience, treat your body with care and love and it will reward you with better health.

All my best wishes,
Gabi

Just an update, I have been using the castor oil now for 3 weeks and am just beginning to notice an improvement. I have 2 spots, 1 quite big and the other slightly smaller. It took about 2 weeks and although nothing changed I religiously carried on, particularly at night. This last week I have noticed a definite difference but can see it might take some time. The castor oil only cost £4 so am so pleased that I gave it a try. To anyone who is trying this,mi would say don't give up, it won't miraculously go overnight but definitely you will start to see an improvement. My hope is that maybe in another month they will have completely disapeared. Am so grateful for the tip.

Wow, hearing all your stories has made me feel less alone! Does anyone have a recommendation for NYC dermatologists for Venous Lake laser treatment? I'm pretty sick of people staring at my lip and ready to do something about it because it does seem to be slowly growing.. It's a bit annoying insurance won't cover it because it's not bleeding or anything, so I'd like to have some kind of guarantee it's going to work..

I know this is an old thread, but am wondering if you found a dermatologist and attempted laser treatment? I used Dr. Geronimus (not sure of the spelling) a few weeks ago and it appeared to have at least reduced in size and color when it was nearly healed, but now it seems back to what it was. I'm not even sure if I should attempt a second treatment.

Omg.... I can't get to the store fast enough to try this!!!!! I'm praying it works! I worked at a Derm office about 15 years ago and had it lasered for free! It lasted for about 5 years and now it's considered cosmetic and cost $700

I started using castor oil this week after reading these posts. I too had done a laser treatment which helped for about 6 months before returning. The A castor oil has made the bluish color decrease and the swelling of the spot as well. I'm very excited and plan to share this with my family doctor who prefers the natural/holistic approach. Thank you!

I have a Venus lake on my lower lip and was told to go to Boston for help.
The castor oil sounds interesting, I hope it helps because it seems after lazer surgery it can return !

I was also told that it will get larger as I age (yuck)

Do you apply castor oil to your lip? I just had one removed for the 2nd time. I didn't think it was a returning one, just thought the 1st dermatologist missed a speck & it just grew until I couldn't stand it any longer. I don't want to have to deal with another one! If castor oil helps, I need to try it.
