Venous lake on my lip

I have this dark blue/purple lesion on my lip that keeps getting bigger. I went to see the dermatologist and she said that it's a venous lake. She said it was nothing I had to worry about. Does anyone else have one or know of someone who does? If so, what was your/their treatment?

I had several venous lakes on my lip about 4 years ago and one bled profusely, my doctor referred me to the plastics department at my local hospital and I was advised to have the bleeding one cut out, which I did and it was painless and only left a tiny scar. The other venous lakes were lasered . As I have just noticed another venous lake I have been referred for laser treatment again.

is it better to do the laser treatment or the surgical treatment, in terms of the success and the after look?

I had a venous lake on my lower lips for several years and it really bothered me how it looked. I went to my then dermatologist and spent a fortune to get it removed ... It did not go away after numerous laser shots. I switched dermatologists a couple of years later and with one (1) laser visit, it was gone. It took about a month to disappear and I am left with a small white mark but that is all. I felt as though I had had a facelift, I no longer felt that people were looking at the venous lake. I had not heard about using castor oil. Choose your dermatologist wisely.

Curious, did both dermatologists use the same kind of laser? What kind of laser was used in the successful treatment?

Since I have to wait several weeks for an appointment I had nothing to lose and tried the castor oil idea. It actually does work. The venous lake swelling has gone down and the colour is almost back to normal.

Thank your for the suggestion of Castor Oil, I have used it for three days and my lip is almost
back to normal. I saw a difference in one day. Very inexpensive, no pain, surgery or wasted money. I would highly recommend this option before anything else.

Really glad to hear that. Keep the treatment and you will have better and better results with your VL, even disappear. I posted the castor oil remedy over 1 year and nobody seemed to notice my post, neither to give it a chance. So, thank you that you posted here your results, maybe will encourage others too to try it. For me it passed almost 1 year already since I applied castor oil with 100% success and it never came back! Since then my lip looks absolutely normal, you cannot tell that I ever had a venous lake on it! And I spent only 2$ on the bottle of castor oil.
