I took my pill the morning after I was supposed to take it, then had sex that day without a condom. Then that night I took my pill like 6 hours late but still took it. Could I be pregnant????

Hi Anonymous,
February 16, 2011 - 5:38pmThank you for your question.
Birth control pills are only effective in preventing pregnancy if you take the pill consistently and correctly. The effectiveness decreases when you do not take it every day at the same time each.day.

How far into your cycle were you when this happened? If you were ovulating at this time, your risk of being pregnant increases. Your two options are a blood test to determine if you are pregnant. Or take a home pregnancy test, but you need to wait until your period is late and for the best accuracy, babycenter.com, advises waiting a week after your expected period before testing.
Hope this is helpful.
