This procedure is where an anesthetic in injected near the nerves of the spine (in several places) to determine if these shots alleviate pain.

There are risks to all procedures - risks in this case include infection, or an allergic reaction. There is also some risk of paralysis of the areas. These risks are small. Your doctor will have paperwork for you to read with a full list of potential risks. You and he/she can weigh them up carefully to see if the risks are worth it.
