Hello Anon
Thank you for writing!
Bed bugs, no larger than an appleseed, live on blood and blood alone. They have been around for centuries. They're super-resilient and can live just about anywhere. Bed bugs like to hide in crevices and cracks where people sleep or sit still for a long time (as it makes for easy feeding). Bed bugs can go without feeding for 80 to 140 days. Adults can survive without food for as long as 550 days. Bed bugs grow fastest and lay most eggs at about 80 degrees F.
Bedbugs can attach themselves to almost anything - from beds to furniture to clothing, luggage or wall cracks, crevices and even electric outlets, lampshades and in cars. They can transfer from backpacks and purses and coats etc, in schools, work places, and public transportation. Hotels may have them in beds and room furniture. It's very hard to find out the exact source unless they are spotted immediately.
If you have an infestation, it's important to contact an extermination company as soon as possible. They will do a thorough search of your home/environment and advise treatment. Bed bugs spread quickly so call as soon as possible. You will not be able to get rid of them on your own.
Best,
