Hello retha_g,

Blood in urine can occur when the kidneys or other parts of the urinary tract allow blood cells to leak into urine.  It usually not a cause for alarm.  This leakage is most commonly caused by urinary tract infections.

However, this symptom can be caused by serious conditions, so it should not be ignored.  Other causes include, kidney disease, sickle cell anemia, tumors, and side affects to medications, to name a few.

I suggest you visit your doctor to make sure you know the exact cause so it can be treated right away.
