Hello Prokriti,
Hemodialysis, which cleans and filters your blood using a machine to temporarily rid your body of harmful wastes, extra salt and extra water, is a treatment option for patients with kidney failure. Diet, medications and fluid limits are often needed ed as well.
Peritoneal dialysis is another treatment option to remove wastes, chemicals and extra water from your body. It uses the peritoneal membrane in your abdomen to filter your blood.
Dialysis helps replace the work that your kidneys do, but, is not a cure for kidney failure.
Kidney transplantation surgically places a healthy donor kidney to replace the damaged kidneys. The donated kidney does enough of the work that the two failed kidneys used to do to keep the person healthy and symptom free.
I hope this answers your questions.

Hello Prokriti,
Damage to the kidneys causes the build up of waste products and fluid in the body. If left untreated, diseased kidneys may eventually stop functioning completely.
The National Kidney Foundation offers an online booklet," Nutrition and Chronic Kidney Disease".

Usually, a person with acute renal failure requires an overnight hospital admission for treatment. Fluid intake is limited based on urinary output. A special diet is ordered and may be high in carbohydrates but low in protein, salt and potassium.
A person with chronic renal failure may be advised under a physician's supervision to limit fluids, eat a low-protein diet, restrict salt, potassium and phosphorus and get enough calories if he or she is losing weight.
I hope that I have answered your questions.
