I have been feeling very sick for about a week and a half now. A couple days ago, I had my period for a day and a half. It was red blood, and seemed normal, but just lasted a day. Now, they're suggesting a blood pregnancy test. Why would they suggest this after I had my period already?

Hello ccphelps11,
The reason your doctor is suggesting a blood pregnancy test is because this was not a period. Rather, you bled for only a day and a half. A blood pregnancy test measures hCG levels. This is a hormone produced only during pregnancy.

Hello Maryann-
So even though I bled, it is considered different or abnormal, so she's probably suggesting this to rule out the possibility of pregnancy?
Much thanks,
