The Importance of Teeth in Your Appearance
One of the most important parts of a good-looking face is a person’s teeth. When you want to talk with an interviewer for a new job, your teeth will make a first impression, and you want it to be a good one. Your teeth don’t only affect job prospects; they makes an impact in every part of society. Teeth have a significant role in your success in life. Therefore, everybody should keep their teeth healthy. It is important to know how you can keep good health of your teeth.
People have to eat, naturally, but it’s under our control what we eat. Some foods and drinks can have a much worse effect on your teeth than others. For instance, cola and red wine can stain and weaken your teeth because of their deep colors and acidity. Foods high in carbohydrates, like bread, that stick to your teeth nourish bacteria, since carbohydrates in your mouth are gradually reduced to sugars. That’s because of enzymes in saliva that help with digestion but also help feed bacteria. Because of this, you should rinse your mouth thoroughly after eating or drinking and brush your teeth about half an hour later. If anything gets stuck in your teeth, it can also cause problems ranging from pain to bad breath, so it’s good to use your tongue to check. If need be, you can use floss to get it unstuck.
It’s also important to teach young children the importance of oral hygiene. Starting around about two years old, brush their teeth twice a day. Teach them to do it themselves by demonstrating and telling them it makes them a big kid. If they brush with you and are proud of it, reward them with stickers or something similar. They should also learn to floss when they’re about five or six. The same technique of first doing it for them, then demonstrating by flossing your own teeth, can help. You don’t want them to lose their teeth, have a poor appearance, or have dental problems because you haven’t taught them.
When a child has grown their adult teeth, you should consider getting braces if their teeth aren’t straight. An orthodontist can tell you if that would be worthwhile. Your child’s appearance is worth it. If your own teeth weren’t straightened when you were a child or if your teeth are crowded, you should consider getting braces yourself. There are invisible brands of braces you can use so that you don’t have the embarrassment of being an adult who wears braces. Just consider the great impact it will have on your social life.
The appearance of your teeth has made an impact all your life. From your first tooth that your parents exclaimed over to your first college class to your first job interview, people have paid attention to your teeth, since your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. If your teeth are stained and crooked and you have terrible breath, people will notice and judge you, whether or not it’s fair. You should brush your teeth at least twice a day, rinse with water after all food and drink, and make sure your teeth are straight and white.
