Mood: Love – Feeling Grateful
Last night when I called my mother, I could sense that she was feeling a little sad. I asked her what was wrong, and let her talk for a while.
Being a mother, wife and grandmother, she focuses a lot on giving to others. Yet several of her most important needs have not been met.
I could tell that mom was craving love, affection and appreciation, which we often neglect to give her in the ways that she desires. I wished that I was by her side, holding her, comforting her and making her feel loved and appreciated.
Then I realized that even though I was far away, physically, I could still send her my tender affection. I hope it reached her…
I know it did.

Rosa, thank you so much for sharing your experience, both with your mother and as a mother. You are right. Even a phone call, a thank you, and a word of gratitude and appreciation goes a long way. Thank you for reminding all of us!

Today I'm feeling productive...I haven't stopped working on one thing or another since I woke up.
But on a note similar to yours, every day I think of my mother. She also gives, gives, gives.. and hardly ever receives. I wish I could fill in the gaps alone but I know she needs more-- she needs a companion, my siblings' love and gratitude, and happiness within herself. There is no denying that I believe she is the best mother and person in the world, but I hope she believes that as well.
As a mother myself, a simple "thank you, mommy" goes a long way. So, I hope that everyone who reads your mood journal today will at least make a phone call and say "Thanks Mom, for all you do."
Thanks for sharing!
