So at the end of september I had sex with my boyfriend for the first time and the condom slipped. He reassured me that it was fine but because of my worrysome self I took plan b 30 hours after the incident. And now I just needed to wait and try to not stress.
A week after taking the pill I noticed some brown discharge on my underwear, had small cramps and I just kept telling myself that it was plan b side effects, not pregnancy symptoms. I continued to spot for three days. My period was supposed to start by then but it started three days late. That was a heavy flow with LOTS of cramping. I thought after this period I would be fine...I was so wrong. I started to become paranoid.
Two weeks after my first period ended I started to get this slight abdominal pain on my right side (not cramps) and that pain gradually grew stronger and it jumped around to my left side, my pelvic area (it hurt to walk), and I felt it right under my ribs as well. This lasted for 8 days. During this time I would wake up feeling sick like I had to throw up (though I never did), and I would have really tender/sore breasts, constant headaches, extreme depressed feelings, anxiety and I had an increase in cervical mucus even after I should've ovulated. (Note: I was experiencing these side effects about 4 or 5 weeks after i took plan b) At this point I was convinced I was pregnant or possibly experiencing an ectopic pregnancy (due to a lot of pelvic pain).
My second period was coming up in a week or so and I was still experiencing these pains and symptoms. So i scheduled an appointment with a doctor to see what's wrong with me. But by the time the appointment came around the symptoms were gone. (the first symptom that stopped was tender breasts. those became normal again, then my headaches and morning sickness went away. and the abdominal pain too...I was still deeply stressed and depressed. The doctor did a pregnancy test and it came out as negative. That same day I went and had sex...I should've waited for my cycle to go back to normal though.
Then a few days after my dr. appt I was supposed to get my period. When it didn't come I was really worried because maybe I had gotten pregnant from the second time I had sex. But as it turned out, I was one day late on my second period... It started out really light on the first day but when nighttime hit, it was reallly HEAVY and it had a lot of dark red splots. Second day was also heavy. But today is the third day and it is much lighter and feeling fine. Make sure to drink lots of water when you get heavy periods.
Recap:
I took plan b 30 hours after sex. (I'm not sure if I was ovulating or if i had already ovulated) A week later I was spotting for three days. My period should've came when I was spotting but it was late three days. Two weeks after my period (A month after taking plan b) I started experiencing a lot of plan b side effects (it caused extreme paranoia and I really thought I was pregnant...thank God im not). Those symptoms lasted a week. My second period was a day late. I think my cycle is back on track. Now I'm free from any pregnancy scares for now...Plan b made my body go crazy and I would recommend not taking this unless it is absolutely necessary.

Hello Anon
Thank you for sharing your story - it will help many, I'm sure. Indeed, emergency birth control is for emergencies only. Too many women are taking it as a method of birth control.
