You may have posters of him and his brothers on your bedroom wall. You may jam to their music in your car. But did you know that Nick Jonas is a diabetic?

That’s right Jo Bro fans, the youngest member of the hit Disney band is a juvenile diabetic, and he doesn’t let it stop his from doing what he wants to do.

Like most people, Nick found that he had a passion for signing and music. Before he was diagnosed, Jonas noticed that he was acting strange and moody. He told Diabetes Health magazine that this was unusual, given his friendly character.

When Nick was diagnosed he was worried about fitting his health issues into life on tour. The OmniPod (discusses in a previous blog entry) helped him overcome his blood sugar instabilities.

Given the popularity of the Jonas Brothers Band, Nick is a great role model for young kids and teens living with diabetes. He shows them they can follow their dreams without letting diabetes get in the way. He told Diabetes Health magazine that he is blessed to have a platform on which to share about life with diabetes. For the diabetic Jo Bro fans out there, Nick says that he gives a guitar pick to his “diabetic buddies” when he meets them after concerts.

Nick’s story, again, proves the same thing I’m trying to prove: that you can’t let diabetes get in the way of living life. Look at Nick, he even uses it as a platform to encourage other kids. I think this is the best way to handle such a debilitating disease.
