Beans, Fish and Lean Meats

Healthy sources of protein to prevent diabetes include beans such as kidney beans and lentils, fish and lean cuts of meat. The American Diabetes Association recommends eating fish 2 to 3 times a week. Choose lean cuts of meat such as pork loin or sirloin. Remove the skin from chicken and turkey to reduce the amount of fat per serving.
