Joanne shares how she treated her dry eye symptoms and provides advice for women with this condition.
Joanne:
Dr. Gong gave me numerous eye drops. Some of them worked fine, some of them worked better. They also, dry, warm cloth on your eyes work very well. There is also treatments out there – Tranquileyes that help very well, feels really good if you have severe dry eyes.
As soon as I started up the routine of putting the drops in my eyes and hydrating them I have less sensitivity to light because my eyes were burning any time there was a great light. I can drive without sunglasses even though I shouldn’t. So I wake up less watery, I mean I still have a little bit burning in the morning, but it’s not watering like it was.
If I can give advice to another woman how to deal with dry eyes I would say don’t give up because when I first started drops the first set did not work. I felt like it wasn’t doing what I wanted it to do so I continued to try other drops. Dr. Gong gave me other solutions and eventually it works.

Hello Joanne, I was diagnosed with severe dry eyes over 20 years ago. Dr. Doisy did several tests and discovered that I had congenitaly defective tear ducts. He told me that there was a procedure which involved placing plugs in the tear ducts. I agreed to the procedure, and it was completey pain free. Afterwards , he told me to use Tears Naturalle up to six times a day. As my eyes improved, I was able to use the drops only as needed .I have to
May 17, 2010 - 7:23amhave the plugs replaced as needed, usually every 2 to 3 years. I do not have the burning, itching or bluring now. Like you I always wear my sunglasses when I am out in the sunshine. I am so grateful that I got help. Sincerely, Lioness 111.
