Ted Williams was a homeless man on the streets of Columbus, Ohio. He has a gift that he thought would help get him off the streets: a rich, deep, booming “radio voice” that is simply astounding. A reporter saw him panhandling and holding a sign that said he was a former radio announcer. The reporter took a chance, interviewed him and put the video on YouTube; in the first three days it had been viewed over 11 million times. Watch the video and be amazed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTysXITBCmk

The result? Williams has hundreds of job offers including an offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team that included a home. He was guest announcer on the Today Show and was interviewed by Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira. It is simply amazing when you consider that only three days earlier he was literally living on the streets.

A miracle? Many would say, “Yes!” I say, “Sort of.”

Just a few days ago it was announced that there were two winners of the Mega Millions lottery, and they will split a prize of over $350 million. A miracle? Many would say, “Yes!” I say, “Sort of.”

Susan Boyle shocked the world with her beautiful voice when she sang on Britain’s Got Talent and became an overnight sensation. A miracle? Many would say, “Yes!” I say, “Sort of.”

What do all three of these “miracles” have in common? Each of the benefactors did something to facilitate that miracle; something without which there would have been no miracle.

Ted Williams, the homeless man, communicated his talent on his panhandling sign.

The winners of the lottery bought a ticket.

Susan Boyle auditioned.

Miracles often don’t happen without a little help. Many times we pray for miracles to get us out of the situations that are causing us stress but that’s all we do: pray. My point is that sometimes it takes more than that.

What miracle do you need to happen in your life? What can you do to help it along?

Whatever that is… are you doing it?
