What do you think are the most important aspects of wellness?
I personally have been very fortunate that my mind and spirit play a huge part in my own wellness journey. Over the past two years I have managed to physically heal my heart after two small heart attacks; reduce my blood pressure back to normal and reduce the effects of anxiety and depression on my life. I have done this without pills, potions, diets or anything else - just a strong desire to get better physically.
I would really love to hear what others think about this and what they attribute their 'wellness' too.
thank you for sharing
lisa :)
I also believe it's important to focus on your emotional and mental health because I find when I am in a supportive relationship, feel good about myself and have passions in life that interest me I take better care of myself physically.
More so, I believe that sometimes you can use your physical health to boost your mental health. For instance, if you're having a bad day going for a run can help lift the fog and make you feel better.
It's most important to remember to focus on your entire being rather than getting too focused on just one aspect because being balanced is truly being healthy.

I am also a believer in mind over body. Have been the optimist all my life. However, as I move into the mid-40's, I find that I am not able to cope with stress like I used to before. It gets to me and it converts to back/neck aches. I am not as perky and upbeat as I used to be.

For me, there is nothing that keeps me focused on preserving my 'wellness' better than my desire to be the strong one within my loved ones. Everyday I thank God for giving me good health and blessing me with such loving people in my life. I stay healthy, eat well and exercise often to try to prevent any illness. Taking care of myself is my way of taking care of my family. I lead by example and give them the promise that I'll be by their side as long as I can help it.

I find a good sense of humour helps.I always felt that keeping a good out look on life can help when times get tough, going for walks, writing in my diary/journal about things I seen that day that made me smile and thoughts of the day and my accomplishments also affirmations to keep my mind stay strong and positive.

Lisa, this is awesome! Great job with managing your physical condition with your mind and spirit! I am a great believer in the power of the mind over the body and you are proof that what you think and hold in your mind affects your wellness. I have always been considered the "optimist" at work and in my family. I look for the best in people and whatever condition that life presents. I feel blessed to have had good health and know that I look back on it, when I was sick I usually was dealing with a high level of stress. I am keeping physical activity high on my list of daily "must do's" and just started yoga, which really made me feel good after the first session. I also use Young Living essential oils to help deal with challenges or stress. The oils can help with physical conditions as well as emotional. They have blends such as "hope","release" and "present time" and "peace and calming" that really can be beneficial in lieu of other "assistance" such as drugs or alcohol. My mother lost her husband of 60 years last spring and we kept applying those oils to her and the grieving process has been much less intense (I compare it to when my sister died of cancer 30 years ago and my mother turned to drinking for a short period to escape). Using the Young Living oils this time around has made a huge difference in her emotional state.
