Beyond Metabolism
I'm attending a workshop in Kelowna, BC, Canada in October. The workshop is emerging out of the research and discoveries in this book: http://www.scottabel.com/store/product.php?productid=16170
Here's a sample from the workbook we'll be using at the workshop:
Part of the solution is to choose to truly separate yourself from personal and digital relationships that at their core just reinforce “fitting-in by hating yourself.” Part of membership in these groups of self-hate are to reinforce always measuring and judging yourself against some unreal standard. These relationships just reinforce the unwinnable battle with yourself, whether it’s the size of your thighs, the clothes that no longer fit, the foods you can no longer have; and all other manners and means where self-deprivation, self-denial, and self-struggle are the price of membership. If you are susceptible to any of these influences it is necessary to ‘stop the insanity.’ The impression on you to be constantly at war with your cosmetic-self is a notion that is unwinnable in terms of ever feeling truly good about yourself again. And it all begins when you abandon your natural instincts for physical and emotional self-preservation. Having a goal that can never be reached or sustained is not a self-empowering way of defining yourself in life. You end up just as someone with a food issue, an eating issue, a weight problem, a body image problem, or worse. True self-empowerment lies far beyond this superficial battle.
Being a former physique competitor, I find this excerpt pretty powerful, and this book and Coaching have been instrumental in helping me understand and get past emotional eating issues. Plain and simple, a new diet, regimen, or program is not the answer. Willpower is not the answer. Berating yourself is not the answer.

Hi Susan, the workshop has been replaced by a two books and a workbook that Scott Abel will have for sale in a couple of weeks. Let me know if you want more information. :)
