Sick of being sick!

By October 11, 2011 - 11:20am

Just wondering if anyone else has the problem of being sick all the time like I do. We went camping this last weekend, and it was great weather! It was a little damp and chilly at night, but worth it.

Of course both my husband and I have now ended up with that tingly pain in the sinuses and throat, and the "cold" will be setting in shortly. What stinks is I was already on an antibiotic for a chronic sinus infection and ear infection!

For as long as I can remember (at least 20 years) people have always stated that they have never met someone that is sick as much as me. I have chronic sinus infections, ear infections, and now chronic sialadenitis (overgrowth of salivary gland tissue) around my parotid gland too.

I am slowly accepting that I may never "Not be sick" but after so many years, and so many missed activities due to being sick I am up in arms and pissed.

I take tons of vitamins, we have almost completely changed our eating habits, and I just started a job a couple hours a night to get a great workout. What else could a person do!

So, just wondering about all you guys too. :)

Good luck Susan! I hope they don't last much longer, maybe hormone related since you had them during pregnancy? At least they stopped afterwards!

All the best!

Yep, gotta love those migraines! I used to take Imatrex, but I like the Maxalt better. Doesn't always put me right to sleep :)

But on the occasion those don't work, I have had to go into the ER. Dilaudid used to work, but the last two times it hasn't completely gotten rid of. That is scary to think about, but thankfully after two weeks of migraines and six weeks of my sinuses feeling as if someone took a cheese grater to them, I am finally feeling better!

I am going to try to "talk" my migraines away, which may work for ignoring the pain, but when the intense pressure kicks in, not sure if anything will work! Over the summer shortly after my meds were raised to 3 grains, I started to feel the pressure in my head even when I didn't have a migraine. That really sucked, so we lowered the meds a little. That sucked too, because I had more muscle strength and energy on the higher dose with no hyper symtoms other than the pounding in the head, and not even sure if that is actually a hyper symtoms for me. I have tried to explain to every doctor I have been to that if they could just treat the nasal inflammation, that would help my migraines, but what do I know. I have to use a neti pot every day, and once when I was in the hospital with pre-term labor (thanks to the thyroid I now know that is a complication of undertreatment) my sinuses were SO raw my husband had to bring me in a humidifier just to put by my bed. At that time no one at the hospital seemed to care, but when your sinuses are raw the pain can be more unbearable than labor!

Anyway, I better stop before I start on another tangent :)

Thanks Danie! I really enjoy conversation with others who know how I feel :)

No joke I've been constantly sick! I am finally starting to feel better and after 3 different attempts on meds to get rid of all the random colds I've had piled on top of one another I took a week and "worked from home" My coworkers were so kind to keep demands both small and few from me, and both Tristin and I got the rest we needed! My nasty cough still lingers... but I've been sticking to some honey and tea, (and my normal cup of coffee... i can't kick it!) and i'm starting to feel better! I hope you start improving! One good thing about cold weather is less germs spread, despite what people think... Hope you are able to get some holiday fun time in with everything going on.

OH! and when I started my thyroid medications I had constant migraines... so severe I'd have to go into the doc for a shot cocktail that would knock me out for a day or so. I started taking imatrex for the migraines and that brand really helped and didn't break the bank. I also get bad migranes any time i skip a day of meds or if my dosage changes.... Hang in there!!!!

Hope your doing better Daniedoodles! I am STILL sick, so what is this, a six week sinus infection? Yuck!

I have the allergies too, hayfever, constant sinus problems and a migraine every afternoon for the last month. I will try to push through, but somedays I am just about to throw in the towel!

Thanks for joining aussie mum, I look forward to all of us keeping each other going :)

Thanks for Sharing Susan and Daniedoodles!!

I have upped my Vitamin D for the winter, along with all the other supplements so we will see if that does much.

As for sleep, I have made that my number one priority. My family is not all that happy with our schedules, but I must have at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and try for 8.

So we will see how well the rest of the winter goes!!

Knock on WOOD!!! I haven't gotten very sick this year, but when I do, it drags on for months! And I have a 2.5 year old running around! Lucky for me though So far this year I have avoided all illnesses and the pesky "COLD". I've noticed since I Stopped getting the "FLU SHOT" I haven't gotten really sick. Hope you feel better soon!
