"Vegetarian" and "weight training" are two words that can go together just fine. It is a myth that in order to work out strenuously you need to eat a lot of meat. And it is a commonly held belief.

"One of the biggest areas of confusion when it comes to muscle toning (or building) and getting lean (for males or females) is the topic of dietary protein intake."

But plant sources of amino acids when combined well, can supply enough complete protein to carry you through your day, even if your day includes lifting weights and long vigorous work out sessions.

There are a variety of foods containing protein that meet the nutritional needs of vegetarians. Protein can come from beans, peas, grains, and for some vegetarians eggs and dairy products are also on the list. Natural peanut butter, ground flax seeds, chick peas, granola, are some other sources of the amino acids that make up protein.
