What is the DASH diet? Is this something for Olympic Track and Field athletes? You'll be hearing more about this type of nutrition this year. DASH is the acryonym for the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, (DASH). This is a nutritional approach that has been proven to lower high blood pressure in just 14 days!

The DASH diet is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy. The DASH diet was studied as early as 1976 when 88,500 nurses were followed for 24 years and had their diets assessed according to DASH. Those who had followed the DASH diet had a 24% reduced risk for coronary heart disease, an 18% reduction in stroke related incidents and reduced blood pressure.
