Top 10 Foods to Lower Cholesterol

Cholesterol is essential for maintaining healthy cell function, the production of bile acids which aid in digestion of fats and the synthesis of hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. But too much cholesterol accumulates along the lining of the arteries forming plaques. As the arteries narrow, blood flow is compromised thus depriving the heart of adequate oxygen. The higher the blood cholesterol level, the higher the risk of developing heart disease.
