What does it mean to truly detox your mind? Did you ever wish you could just clear your brain, and either fall asleep or power down for a few moments?

Below are some steps you can take to free yourself from your overworked brain.

In an interview Shoshana Hanson CSMC, certified stress management coach of ISFit Coaching explained that ISFit stands for Inner Self Fitness. Hanson said that when you detox your mind, you find your truth.

Meditation

One of Hanson’s first recommendations is to meditate. Meditation is not about turning your mind off. It's about quieting the chatter.

What comes through is the truth, which filters out what is working for you and what is not, making everything clear and focused.

Guided Meditation

Hanson uses an introspective meditative technique (IMT) in her practice with her clients.

To begin this guided meditation, she gives instruction to her clients to take deep breaths and breathe a white light into their third-eye connection.

The third eye is believed to be located in the center of the forehead between the eyes. Hanson says it can connect us to a higher power.

According to BalanceChakra.com, “The Third Eye Chakra is the 6th Chakra and is responsible to what we refer to as 'the sixth sense.' The Chakra connects us to our internal intuitions and is responsible for the sharp senses, the ability to read the future and receive non-verbal messages.”

She'll ask them to visualize a topic — where they may be with it, and what it looks like. How does it bother them? What are their feelings? What are they seeing?

Clients may respond that they're seeing a field of flowers or a calming path they can choose. Others experience the shutting of a big heavy door on their problem, or closing out the person causing the problem, which allows them to feel lighter.

Hanson said, “When something does not serve you it pulls you down and you feel heavy energetically. When you let it go you feel light and happy energetically with a feeling like something resonates with you.”

Get Moving

When you are buried in a problem you ca often feel consumed by it. I have always said that exercise can truly move you away from your worries. Whether it be endorphins or switching your focus, both are helpful and sometimes can allow you to create a solution.

According to HuffingtonPost.com, “Every time you start overthinking and get into a spiral try this: change your physical position — sit up, change posture — and do something physical.”

Detach From Your Gadgets

According to PsychologyToday.com, we may need a mental vacation where we literally shut off work without all of our mobile devices.

“As a result of this vicious cycle of burn out and catch up, few of us ever find the time to indulge in a truly effective vacation — one that renews, revitalizes and re-creates you — a true mental cleansing to accompany the physical one.”

It is especially important, Hanson said, to trust your intuition, trust the visuals you see, even filtering friends who are holding you back from being true to yourself.

“Because feeling good on the inside ... makes all that hard work on the outside shine!”
