I just had "Her Option" cryo ablation of my endometrial lining four days ago for heavy bleeding, cramps, anemia with my periods. I'd like to know if there are any other ladies out there who have had this procedure and their experience. Didi it work for you? Did it help with PMS too?

Hello all. I, too, had cryo about 6 months ago. The first period was horrible. The second not too bad. And then NOTHING for the next 2 months! However, for the last 2 months, this one included, I am gushing..major clotting that is different prior to cryo. Almost looks "shredded". My dr. says it still could be the lining shedding. I sure hope so. The 2 months of no bleeding was heaven! Found this board very interesting! Anyone else experience something similar to mine? I also read where someone said about having it done again! Is that possible? I'd go thru it again......next stop after that hystorectomy! I'm tired of having my period for 39 years! I should have taken stock in tampons and pads! Good Luck everyone! Mrs. H

I had my procedure done in January 2008 and I never stopped having a period. I didn't bleed as much and the cramps improved alittle. But now since May I have been having a period every two weeks some light spotting and some days heavy again. I am going to see a different doctor at the end of this month. But Man this is awful. I feel just like I used to before the procedure.

Hello. I had her option performed the beginning of October 2008. I will skip the part about the actual procedure because I developed an infection afterward and was miserable for about a week. I have had a period in October, November and now in December and they are just as bad as they were before. There may be less cramping and fewer blood clots, but other than that they are lasting just as long. I'm frustrated because I can't find anyone else who can tell me their personal experience long term. Of course I was hoping my periods would go away, but at this point I'd just like them to last for less time. Anyone have any words of hope to offer me?

Hi,

I started this thread back in June. SO I am back looking for others who are able to tell if it actually worked in the long run. It is March now, so I can definitely say IT DIDN"T WORK FOR ME!!!!!!!! I am menstruating right now and it is as bad as it ever was, sigh. So disappointing. I am not ready to do anything now. Repeat ablation? If I saw a small difference from before I'd say okay maybe a second time will take care of it all, but I really don't see any difference. Hysterectomy gosh I don't want to go there. I am 42 I think Id rather just do this once a month for the next 10 years.... I wish I had some words of hope to offer. Perhaps all those who have had great luck with the procedure are out conquering the world so they are so busy they haven't checked back in to this thread to tell us the great news!! I hope it works for some, I think they said it was a 94% success rate.. Best of luck,

Ellen

I had mine done on Dec 19th 2008 and my periods have gotten worse (more painful, longer, and heavier.) I am 23 and after 3 surgeries this was my last option before a hysterectomy which I really don't want. I have a prolapsed uterus though and the added pain from my periods are too much for me to handle anymore. If I had to do it over again I still would though because the chances of it working are too high not to. I wish everyone that chooses this option, or any other, the best of luck.

Mine didn't work either, I fear. I had the procedure done in July '08. I have now spotted for a week and have had a heavy period for the last three days. I have horrible cramps. I also have fibroids that the Dr. told me look like Mickey Mouse ears. Is that what's holding everything up? Horrible gushing the past two days. Awful.

I was surprised at how much pain I was in immediately following the procedure. If I didn't know I wasn't pregnant, I would have thought I was in labor. The pain was severe, just like a hard contraction. And I hadn't even left the office yet! And the nausea... I didn't feel I was warned about that at all. I had major nausea the entire night and next day until I finally vomited. The DR. called me in an anti-nausea med and once I took that, I felt much better. The worst part after that was the bloating... couldn't get my pants buttoned hardly! I am still having discharge 8 days later (had the procedure Oct. 17), but I was told to expect it for several weeks. Anyone planning to have this procedure done, I would ask for an anti-nausea prescription just in case.

Honestly, my experience for the actual procedure wasn't too bad. I followed the doc's instructions to the letter, even setting my alarm if I needed to in order to take the medication on time. The first day, I definately needed my husband's help. It is a major procedure so of course you aren't going to feel perfect within a few hours. Everyone is different and reacts differently. Listen to your body.

This is a great option. You must FIRST know if you have submucous fibroids or polyps in the uterine interior or an unusually shaped uterus. This was easily done with a saline ultrasound. Just had it done today with an endometrial sampling.

From how I understand it, once you are cleared of these problems and you are tired of using hormones or being told hysterectomy is the only answer, you can consider the heroption. I will do it in the office next month. have all my preop meds and a great understanding of what I can expect.

AdvancedGynSolutions.com and Dr. Rabin should be consulted if you are in Atlanta.

My doctor went over this procedure as a possible solution to my heavy periods. I only brought it up to him because I've had very light periods lasting 1-2 days my whole life and in the past year or so they have been much heavier w/cramping for 2-3 days sometimes. I am also bleeding between periods which is a new experience. I'm 44 so I thought this was just a precursor to menopause. In reading these comments the side effects seem to be much worse than I thought. Maybe only those with bad experiences have posted? My problem is not so severe that I'm willing to go through some of the problems I'm reading here. Anyone here think it would be worth it for me considering my periods are not yet that severe?
