Dr. Shoshana Bennett's first pregnancy was a happy time. But all that changed right after her baby was born. She became riddled with depression and anxiety.

This was in the mid-1980's and doctors were not trained to handle the nightmare of postpartum depression. They offered no treatment that could help.

Shoshana was left to struggle on her own. It took over two years for life to begin to feel bearable again. Not long after things began to improve, she and her husband decided to have another baby.

Once again, after delivery, she was plummetted into a well of depression and anxiety. Things were different this time though.
She heard about other women who had also has this experience and that there was treatment that could help. Shoshana has devoted herself to the education of the public and professionals, to do what she can for women suffering from the nightmare of postpartum depression.

"Dr. Shoshana Bennett is a licensed psychologist who founded Postpartum Assistance for Mothers in 1987 after her second undiagnosed postpartum illness."
