Within a day of 17-year-old Zoey 101 star Jamie Lynn Spears giving birth to a baby girl, Maddie Briann, Time Magazine reports that a high school in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has discovered a teen girl pregnancy pact among its students. At last count, 17 teenage girls in this 1,200 student high school have been found to be pregnant, 4 times the number of pregnancies as last year. The school nurse became suspicious when her office was inundated with a steady stream of requests for a pregnancy test throughout the school year. Further investigation into the matter revealed that these teen girls had made a pregnancy pact and vowed to raise their babies together.

The school health clinic faced a recent increase in girls under 16 seeking pregnancy tests, which caused officials to investigate possible teen pregnancy. Since then, it has been discovered that these Gloucester girls decided to go through teen pregnancy in a pregnancy pact, planning to raise all their babies together. As such, they have had sex with Gloucester males for the purposes of getting pregnant. Early reports indicate some of these males are boys from Gloucester High School, some are men in their mid 20's, while one girl even got pregnant by a homeless man. Many of these Gloucester girls are 16 or younger, so some of the males could face statutory rape charges. Even if the sex was consensual, it is a crime under Massachusetts to have sex with a girl younger than 16 under any circumstance.

But should we talk to the girls? Maybe see if there's another explanation for all this? Nah. Leave it all on Juno ... after all, Fox Searchlight didn't hand out condoms outside movie theaters screening Juno (I sure as heck never got any condoms!), so, really, it's their fault for not paying closer attention. Right?

GLOUCESTER, Mass. (AP) - The mayor of Gloucester (GLAHS'-tur), Massachusetts, says she's seen "no evidence" that teenage girls at a local high school made a pact to get pregnant.
Mayor Carolyn Kirk tells The Associated Press that many factors could be involved in the recent surge in teen pregnancies in the community, but she doubts a dozen girls would conspire to get pregnant.
