I recently took defibrillator training at work and something really took me by surprise. When you are trained to defibrulate you also get trained in CPR also. My thought was in most cases it would be used for choking victims........NO! In most cases if you are going to save someones life it will be due to a heart attack.
Since, I was pretty amazed by these statistics, I thought I would share the warning signs of a heart attack...
Women should learn the heart attack warning signs. These are:
Pain or discomfort in the center of the chest.
Pain or discomfort in other areas of the upper body, including the arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
Other symptoms, such as a shortness of breath, breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or light-headedness.
Remember that if you feel like you are experiencing any of these symptoms....call 911 immediately.
The most important thing to remember is that the faster you get treatment, the better chance you have for survival.
Here is another tip I would like to share. I know most offices I have worked in you have to dial a 9 to get an open line. Do you know if you have to dial 911 from your work telephone, do you have to dial 9 – 911?
Being prepared may save a life!
