I just read Dr. Gwenn's post regarding Teenage Pregnancy and Sex Ed, and have a question: Do any of you have teenagers in high school, and if so, what is actually being taught in class regarding human sexuality?
(side note: please know that my phrase "human sexuality" includes all aspects, not just the 'sex' part of the word, but includes: relationships, intimacy, anatomy, hormones, safer sex, abstinence, affection, love, responsibility, etc).
I have been hearing so much debate about "sex ed" and "abstinence-only" education through the years, that I honestly do not know what is exactly taught at the high school level in regards to human sexuality. Are all of these things (listed above) discussed? If not, what is actually being taught in schools?
What do you think about Bristol Palin's pregnancy as a 17 year old, engaged to a boyfriend who does not want children yet (he's only 18, not a big shock).
