I guess I must press particularly hard on my keyboard with my index finger, or it's the most used digit; but, it has been painful for a couple of days. Notably, I cut my nails short a couple of days ago. So, I suspect there's some connection, at least to some degree.
Not knowing what this could be, I did a search online and found RSI - Repetitive Stress Syndrome. It's a bit like carpal tunnel syndrome, whereby non-ergonomic repetitive use causes the injury.
But, the pain in my finger is primarily in the tip. Numbness radiates across the top of my hand from my fingertip. I'm concerned that my non-ergonomic keyboard at work is causing this problem; and I'm also concerned that I may be setting myself up for long term nerve damage.
Has anyone experienced this? If so, what was the treatment to help heal your finger? Did you have to go to a neurologist, or was your GP able to deal with this?
