Some rather unusual news about breast cancer is that a recent study from the Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle showed that women who suffer migraines are less likely to get this kind of cancer than women who don't - 30% less likely!
Doctors believe the reason is strongly linked to hormones.
Breast cancers that are driven by higher levels of estrogen and progesterone are seen less often in women who get frequent migraines - migraines that may be caused by low levels of both these hormones.
Almost 3500 women were involved in this study, all of them having completed menopause.
Women are far more likely to suffer migraines than men; three times more likely. Doctors believe this is due to a combination of hormones, brain activity and perhaps, stress.

This news may provide some comfort to the millions of women who suffer migraines - a kind of silver lining in a dark cloud. Migraines cause millions of women blinding pain, sensitivity to light, loss of peripheral vision and auras.
