Some girlfriends and I was talking about the breast cancer gene test available for women but several mentioned they were put off by the stories they have read about not being able to get a job or life insurance if a future employer or life insurance company found out they tested positive (if they did test positive).
Even if paying in cash and not using health insurance to pay for the testing, health records may be accessible to both prospective employers and health insurance providers. We used to think genetic discrimination wasn't a real issue until we delved a little further.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
