I get itchy, sensitive eyes and an itchy throat and this lasts for much of the year. I am not even sure of the triggers but I do know that I am allergic to certain plants and some make up. A few years ago, I was allergy tested and was given a vaccination once a week until it stopped working and I also became much more interested in holistic healing and immune building.
I began to understand that allergies are simply the reactions certain people get whose immune system is compromised to some degree. The plant is basically innocent but my body is sensitive to it, so in my mind, what I need to do is to naturally build up my defenses by excellent eating, etc. to stop my ridiculous reaction to it.
I do not eat dairy as I believe that to some degree, it is a major cause of compromised immunity. I also eat a lot of veggies, fruit, "good" grains, take acai, eat healthy fish, drink lemon and water every day, avoid caffeine completely, except for green tea and lots more. My skin is great....like a baby's bum and I rarely get sick but these itchy eyes and throat drive me mad sometimes.
I also, once in a while, will get a bad reaction on a hike or just out of the blue where I will sneeze all day(violently)and feel like I have a flu but it will be completley gone by the next day with no trace.
I am not terribly interested in what allopathic medecine has to offer me for this. I don't want any more drugs or vaccinations. I am a strong, healthy woman who wants to beat this naturally.
I am thirty eight, have no other issues and have never had. My mother and sisters also get these itchy eyes and they are in Ireland. I live in Northern California.
Sometimes the only way to stop scratching my eyes is for me to put my allergy free make up on and then I don't want to spoil it and so because I am not scratching, they stop itching. Sometimes they wake me up at night and I find myself scratching.
Can anyone help?? Is there something I can add to my diet? Should I avoid alcohol? How can I super strengthen my immune system?
